The following slide show should give you a reasonable idea of the amount of work carried out when recovering a snooker table. Earnie Sanders started maintaining snooker tables in the 1970's and has now passed the mantle to his son Trevor who is the person you will see in the slides along with Ian who also works for the Sanders company.

Recovering our Snooker Tables

Here is Table 1 prior to it's new cloth

Removing the Cushions

Firstly, remove the side rails and securing bolts for each cushion

Removing the Cushion Cloths

Remove all cushion cloths and staples

Removing the Wooden Beading

The cloth is wedged in by a wooden bead

Fit new Cushion Cloths

Cut new cloth and refix with the existing wooden beading

Slate Slabs

The true size of the slate can be seen here and yes, it can still bow slightly!

Stretch Cushion Cloth

The cloth is pulled tight, shaped and the rear is then stapled

Remove Cloth Staples

All the staples securing the existing cloth must now be removed

Settling the Cloth

Once the cloth is stapled, the bulk lines are measured and drawn

Refitting the Cushions

The cushions can now be refitted to the table using the existing bolts

The pockets can be refitted with any new nets, these are very awkward!

Eddie Royce was a very popular member and represented the club for many years in the Midhurst and District Snooker League. Eddie had a passion for billiards and was a previous winner of the trophy in 1985 so it was decided to rename the Trophy in his honour.

* In 1995 the club billiards trophy was shared between Paul Adams and Eddie Royce as Eddie unfortunately passed away so did not compete in the final.
